Every acre,a metre deep.

Rhizal measures soil organic carbon from the surface to 100 cm, so growers are paid for what their roots actually store.

01 — The gap

Most carbon programmes sample the top 30 cm. Prairie roots put half their carbon below that line, and the payment stops where the sampling does.

A shallow core misses the slow, stable carbon: the kind that stays put for decades. Growers doing the hard work of deep-rooted rotations get credited for the easy part.

We built Rhizal to measure the whole column. Every core runs to a metre, is scanned at 2 cm resolution, and ties back to a certified lab.

Sixteen cores from one field. The green is what a 30 cm programme never sees.

02 — Method
01 · Core

A metre of soil, every time

A truck-mounted probe pulls intact cores to 100 cm on a grid stratified by slope, texture and past yield. No shovel pits, no guessing.

Hydraulic probe · 4.5 cm bore
02 · Scan

Read in the cab, not in six weeks

Each core slides past a spectrometer at 2 cm steps before it leaves the field. One in eight goes to a certified lab to keep the scanner honest.

VIS-NIR · 50 readings per core
03 · Certify

A map buyers will sign

Cores become a field-wide stock map with an honest error bar on every acre, filed to the registry of your choice.

04 — Field record

Three seasons, as they actually went.

  • Nine Mile RanchCherry Co., NE · Grazing

A 30 cm programme had credited them almost nothing for adaptive grazing. The metre cores found the gain sitting between 40 and 70 cm.

Fourteen members pooled their acres into one filing. Two farms showed no gain, and we said so on the sheet. The buyer paid a premium for that.
